Considerations

Legislation places a duty on owners and managers of commercial and retail buildings to ensure that plant and equipment (passenger and goods lifts – of all types) are thoroughly examined by a competent person.

There is also a duty to have equipment regularly maintained, which is usually carried out by lift service companies, however, this should not be confused with statutory examination, which is a legal requirement.

CTS Safety can support you in fulfilling your obligations and can advise on what equipment should be examined and how often.

Legislation Applicable to Equipment Use

Lifting Operations & Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER)
